Is simplex 1 contagious?

i'm 14 and i think i have simplex 1 cause ever since i was 1 i got canker soures and for 14 years my family and i have drunk out of the same cups and they have never got any soures but i heard it's contaigous. so if it's contaigous that would mean i don't have the disease...right? then if i don't have it what do i have then?
